Catherine Volk creates intricate, screen prints from the drawings she produces each day. As a student, she loved mainly sketching nude models and this continues to form the main structure of her imagery.

Her work is vibrant and flowing, showing both movement and a representation of everyday life. She allows herself to create the drama of life within this vibrancy. Catherine keeps the sense of spontaneity of her sketches in her prints and often uses more than one single image to depict her ‘stories'. She sees the format of her work as " 9ème art" - the French description of the comic strip. This allows her to present her prints in a painterly tradition, divided into sections or panels.

For an exhibition, her work will be displayed so the viewer feels like they have opened Catherine’s sketchbook and flicked though the pages as they view her prints.
